Re: Borodino weekend

Dale, to your absolute credit you were without doubt at the most agressive I have ever seen you play. Full on assault from move one. You were indeed unfortunate to lose so much of your horse artillery battery upon the first shots from the Russian defenders in Utitsa. Upon such moves are battles won ...

Re: Borodino weekend

Gents , another wonderful gaming weekend with lots to talk about. The figure count for cavalry looks light at 600 given that I supplied over 200 French and 250 Russian, almost all of whom were on the tables and with everyone else's figures I would have thought we had more. Needless to say I am now w...

Re: Borodino weekend

Sounds like I need to move half of my house down to Kirriemuir for the Borodino weekend ! On the buildings front I have a number of the Hovels Russian houses and a church as well as a Snapdragon Russian farmhouse. I have added another unit of Opolechnie so now have 24 Ryazan and 48 Moscow militia. P...

Re: The cost of wargames figures

I am willing to pay whatever the asking price is within reason for well sculpted figures. Where I struggle is with the inconsistent mailing policies and international exchange rates charged by some. I recently bought some Conquest indians direct from the manufacturer (prior to their deal with Warlor...

Re: Bubble gum cards of the 60s - Memory Lane - enjoy

It was the confederate bank notes I remember best. I had a collection of them and tried cashing them in at the travel agent who I had heard delat in foreign currency!

Great to see those cards again. The bubble gum from memory was hard and pretty awful!

Wargamers Annual 2013

I have just received my contributors copy of the Wargamers Annual 2013 and thought I should post a few words of congratulations to my fellow LOGWargamers. Charles has done another great job of pulling this together but I also noticed contributions from Dale, Kevin , Angus, Colin, Barry and yours tru...

Thanks guys,

I have a tentative roster of our first 25 games which I will circulate for your comments. Kevin's recollection is teh same as mine that we played at the Heugh Hotel, Stonehaven first and then moved to the Airlie,Kirriemuir.

LoGW history and roster

You might be interested to know (or possibly you couldn't care less) that this weekends game was our 24th weekend for the LoGW. Our first game was back in Stonehaven in 2004 when we fought another WW2 battle, Magnusiew. In total we have fought - 6 WW2 games - 9 Napoleonic games from Russia to the Pe...

Re: 15th/16th June 2013 Vietnam

Thanks Dale. Kirriemuir is obviously the best venue for us given its location which is pretty equidistant for most of us, the guide hall venue and availability of tables and Bob's boards and the low cost and wide access we get. If the third weekend of each month is the only possible available date t...

Re: 15th/16th June 2013 Vietnam

Happy to organise another Vietnam weekend for next June. We did have some later discussion on the best weekend given Adrian's date conflict. The proposed dates of 15/16th could also be a problem for Andy who has grandchildren with birthdays and parties at that time. I am happy to go earlier in the m...

Re: 16/17 June 2012 - English Civil War

Another very enjoyable weekend's gaming. Thanks again to Adrian and Barry for putting it together. We are getting much more efficient now at the take down after these games, Sunday must have been one of the fastest ever. To see the amount of toyus we had between us was quite amazing. We must have ke...
