Re: WSS Front Rank French

depends on what you unit represents but if its representing a full battalion which had grenadiers & the grenadiers have not been brigaded off separately then yes I would.

Re: New Trainee BLB Gamer seeking reassurance

From my reading of what Barry wrote, you do one test the one with the worst consequences if failed, and if that is passed then all the rest are as well.

Re: Wargames Factory WSS boxes

I have both & I think they are perfectly good the only niggles I have are the fixed socket bayonets , when I want to use them for the 1680 to 1700 when bayonets were more likely to be plug or ring & so only fixed when needed. I use them for rank and file mostly in non personality units for my Sharp ...

Re: New player to BLB

This is one of the reasons for the popularity of Imagi-nations & the like & why I carry a Sassanian mace at shows. Its mostly about making the best guess on the basis of often completely contradictory evidence. As for coat colours nearly every one war grey at some point or another it would seem. :ev...

Re: Sir John Hanmer's Uniform query, 1690

I would try mixing a brownish khaki with varying amounts of brighter yellow till you get a colour that you think looks right then stick at that. though I would tend to vary the colour from figure to figure to represent differential weathering & age.

Re: Gardes te Voet

The period I am interested in is 1890-91 in Ireland. According to Osprey ALL three battalions were present at the Boyne. Sorry if I'm not being clear...
That would be 1690-91

Re: 15mm GNW project?

Also with Roundway as they are only avalible direct form Navwar who only deals with orders by letter cheques and orders phoned in on Saturday & doesn't take credit cards or Paypal or supply the trade any longer they can be an effort to get hold of at all. That said the ones I have seen where good fi...

Re: 15mm GNW project?

Depends what you mean by old school to be honest, so you may see them as such, but I find they are a nice range of well sculpted & appropriately detailed 15mm figures with enough width of range to used exclusively if you want to. They are also inexpensive, with choice of mounts for the horse, and un...

Re: 15mm GNW project?

I would second the choice of the Dixon Marlborough's wars range lovely figures & the starter armies make a good base to build on. I am going to be using it for my large engagements forces for the Nine Years war, but with 25mm sized bases and double the troops on them as I am an old big battalions ma...
