Re: WSS French Militia

Dash,

As your unit are militia, what about varying shades in the one unit - that should give a suitably "regular rabble" type appearance in keeping with their morale. :D

Cheers, Rohan.

Re: Carl Vilhelm Drakenhielm uniform

This is really interesting. It shows the very basic stitching & coarse cloth of the coat. The hat is also interesting. Thankyou for this posting - any other photo's you can get will be of great interest as well.

Re: So I noticed..... and my little blog

Gidday, Redburg. As a regiment of a named province it would have royal livery as the drummer in the photo above. The colonel's livery colours are not always the facing colour, as you will see when you get the Robert Hall reference. In fact there are not many documented details of the drummers unifor...

Re: Swiss in Dutch Pay and Ansbach

Sorry,I tried to attach my file on flags, but it was too big for the previous posting. I attach instead (I hope) a page from the Blenheim website http://www.thewaroffice.co.uk/blenheim/ It is useful, but I recommend that some of the uniform details & flags be treated with caution on that site...

Re: Swiss in Dutch Pay and Ansbach

Some more detail on IR Heidebrecht for you, jezamonos. It comes from August Kuhn's Booklet "The armies of the Imperial Circles of Swabia & Franconia, the Bishopric of Wurzburg & the Margravate of Ansbach" translated by Dan Schorr & Pat Condray from Editions Brokaw (available via Caliver Books) Margr...

Re: So I noticed..... and my little blog

Welcome, Redburg! As jezamonos says - it is up to you. Picardie had 3 battalions, but whether you model them all is up to you. Ditto with the artillery comment. As far as drummer's uniforms go, Robert Hall's "Flags & Uniforms of the French Infantry 1688-!714" says that in 1698 drummers of the regime...

Re: Victrix Austrians

Hi Rohan, In my experience the Victrix plastics are a little bigger in build than perrys, but i do use both, however for a closer match Front Rank do the trick. No plastics from Front Rank as yet though. Many thanks for the advice - I thought the Perry plastics French hussar box should be fine...

Re: Victrix Austrians

Hello all. I am new to this forum having been occupied with BLB. However the imminent release of Victrix Austrians (not to mention Perry green-ups for same), a recent meeting with an old gaming friend who is keen to do Napoleonics, & my love for the 1809 Austrian campaign all conspired to get me to ...

Re: GNW or the Anti-Swedish Alliance

Hello, Günter. If you are not into flag painting (good references in Dann Schorr's article), Stuart at Maverick Models does a Saxon range for this era based on Schorr's reference. Little Big Men Studio (yes, the shield transfer guys) do Swedish Infantry Flags. Reiver also do some Saxon Flags for the...

Not yet, Barry! Got to get a digital camera first & learn how to use it. Figures have financial priority  . If my brother comes to visit, though...!

Cheers, Rohan.

Re: WSS Nassau Uniforms

Gidday, Pat! I'm afraid neither of the CD-ROM's mentioned by Günter actually have the units you need. However the CD ROM called "Die Vereinigten Niederlande 1701-1714" by jean Belaubre & Claus-Peter Golberg does, and this can be cross referenced with C. S. Grant's "The Armies & Uniforms of Marlborou...

Re: GNW Figures?

Gidday, Greg. Reiver Miniatures do an extensive GNW range [http://reivercasting.wordpress.com/][/url] The figures are large 28mm - certainly bigger than Foundry & very animated. The style is rather like that of the old Hinchliffe & Peter Gilder ranges. They do require some work on flash etc & I have...

Re: Paper Flags (UK)

Gidday, Frantic. I can also strongly recommend the flags done by Stuart Wilson at Maverick Models [http://www.maverick-models.com/index.htm] He has ranges covering many periods (His WSS/GNW/9YW ranges are excellent and expanding with a little help  ), can print on paper or silk, and can make t...

Gidday, Barry & Clarence & "VERY WELL DONE! My copy arrived in Eumundi on East coast Australia on Monday 20th, & I hope to use it this weekend - will let you know. Has it reached NZ yet??
