I know that the old WRG rules by Gush are popular in some quarters, but I found them way too "laundry list" competitive for my taste. The (free) "Basic Baroque" supplement for Impetus or the (free) Basic Impetus has had a lot of positive feedback that I've seen. Check these out at the following site...
And just why would all of your units need to be based the same way? Surely the commanders of various battalions had different ideas of how tightly their troops should be.
Barry, Does it really matter if base sizes are off by a bit? Historical units didn't all match up exactly (even with the same number of men). When I wrote some rules for SYW for our local group, I gave my players a flexible choice for their basing . . . i.e., within a range for the frontage. Tighter...
Below is something Clarence sent me a couple of years ago about flank and rear charges. -- Jeff ================================= It was obviously a glaring omission and I spent quit a bit of time correcting it when the e-mails started to come in. Having never published an update, I keep getting the...

What I intended to point out that the two units moving would be for the same army . . . just one by each of the players for that side (one on each end of the table. Thus the two players playing the Royalists would each get a specific unit to move when t...
Clarence, For my upcoming four-player game on Sunday, I've modified the rules slightly in that each "unit card" drawn will actually activate two units (one for each player on a side). The "commander cards" will not be "doubled-up". I figured that this would keep everyone involved on every unit card ...
I have a very difficult time believing that six different people bid on this item. Frankly, I suspect that it was supposed to start at 99 pence and the poster forgot the decimal point . . . and I can only surmise that all of the bidders were thinking that it was the price was in pence and not pounds...
I actually painted up and use some of those purple/green GNW Danish artillerymen (although I think that they might have been raised in what's now Norway) . . . anyway, they look good . . . very distinctive. I like them.
When I expanded the maps, they are .jpgs, so all that I did was to "right click" on them and saved them as .jpg graphic files. I haven't tried printing them, but it shouldn't be hard.
