Austria and German States are pretty much the same - aka Holy Roman Empire(HRE) :wink: I can't say what was common in the HRE but as Saxony was the most eastern Part of the Empire it might be at more or less the same time have been for the other Parts of the Empire. Most certainly yes!
Officiers of "Heavy" or "Elite" Regiments wore most of the time a Cuirass.
It also shows their Rank.

I suggest you use some "artistic license" and put the units on the Table as you see fit and count them on your sheet how strong they really are. I think to remember that we used that scheme in RtE as well, for the same purpose.
