Swedish Infantry in Defence

Hello Barry;

I really like the photo of your Swedish Infantry in defence. Who makes the figures?

Thanks,

Bob

Iain;

When you mention that William III issued an order reducing pikes from 20 to 14 in a company, are you referring to English regiments only or to the Dutch as well?

Thanks.

Ekeren

Pierre Foure presents a brief account of the battle with a list of Franco-Spanish units present in his book on French colors and standards of the period (Trophees de la Guerre de Succession D'Espagne). Much of it comes from Het Staatche Legere, a work in Dutch but which features a brief English syno...

Sean Brogan

From time to time I have come across art covering the Williamite Wars in Ireland done by an artist named Brogan. He has done both prints and paintings; however, I have been unable to find a site for him or a place to review and possibly purchase some of his art. Does anyone know this artist and wher...

Craig Marshall and Per Kristerson wrote a multi-part article which appeared in Miniature Wargames in 1997 and 1998. The article was supposed to be in 4 parts; however, I don't know if part 4 ever appeared. Parts 1 through 3 appear in issues 170, 171 and 180. Parts 2 and 3 cover Danish uniforms and f...

I guess that there is one in every crowd but I'm going to put in a good word for option 2, siege rules. Both Baccus and Dan Schorr have excellent CDs by Robert Hall and August Kuhn which give excellent painting guides for the period. Mark Allen's work in Wargames Illustrated is also an excellent sou...

Regarding pike use by the French and their allies, Merode mentions that his regiment was shaken and fell into confusion at the battle of Ekeren (1703) and that musketeers grabbed pikes and pikemen grabbed muskets. Merode commanded a Walloon regiment n the Spanish army of Flanders. I wouldn't venture...

On the subject of bagpipes, John Tincey notes a painting of Dumbarton's regiment in Tangiers, circa 1683, which features bagpipers wearing the normal regimental uniform of red faced white.  The reference is found on page 41 of the Osprey publication, "The British Army 1660-1704" in explanation of th...

Barry;

I think that we've moved from Judo to WWII. I get a link to Kampfegruppe Falk when I click on the ULB Taster link in "What's New." Is anyone else getting this result? Thanks.

For those of us in the U.S. I bought a copy via ebay. It does not play in U.S. DVD players but will play in Windows media - almost. You will see everything and hear all conversation and battle noise, etc. You will not hear background music which is generally no problem although it is unusual to see ...

Son of a GunBattery

Barry;

A quick an d dirty guide would be most appreciated as I'd like to model a couple of batteries as well as some trench sections to attempt a sortie scenario from the siege of Namur.

Thanks,

According to Susane, the Royal Cantabrians were initially raised in 1745 in the Basque country as the Voluntaires Cantabres. They initially had 2 battalions, 300 hussars, and 2 cannon. By 1747 they had the title Royal-cantabre and were reduced t 4 companies in 1749. They were then raised back to a f...

Hello Edward;

According to Susane, Traisnel originated as Schomberg. Then you have the following:

1684 - Larray
1691 - Maulevrier
1706 - du Fort
1711 - Lyonne

Again, according to Susane, Mirabeau took the name Gensac in 1711.

I hope this helps.
