Ok, this sounds like i'm answering my own question in a way but....

What sort of consistency would you guys recommend for the PVA glue? That is to say how much water to PVA do you recommend?

Use the PVA neat & dont add any water to it as the wetter it is the slower it is to set & dry out & the more risk of the Plywood warping. I would also recommend using the Builders types of wood glue (PVA) rather than craft PVA as the latter is often watered down already.
