Making standards

Post by subedai » Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:53 pm

While I was at Derby the other week I got chatting to the lads from the Border Riever Group. Now for years I have been an admirer of the LoA standards. I have read the articles on construction -including Mrs Hilton's comments- but was never sure where to get the material from, so I have left it and carried on using paper. Talk about as plain as the nose on your b****y face. They use old shirts! How obvious is that. Every wargamer must have at least one old white shirt -or blouse even- hanging about somewhere. Unfortunately I'm painting 10mm Mongols and Chinese figures at the moment so any type of cloth standard is going to be a bit tricky. But just you wait until I get back into 25mm!!!

The stuff I use (yes that's cotton, not linen according to Mrs H) can be picked up from any fabric shop... it is aka curtain lining material (again, according to Mrs H!)
