Major overhaul to LoA website

Post by barr7430 » Sun May 22, 2011 7:21 pm

Folks over the next day or so you will see some fairly major changes to the website.
Stuart has totally redesigned the architecture which will make navigation quicker, easier and smoother. There will be a search bar on every tab so that you can find stuff by key words.
The forum will be more secure and should (I hope) not need me to police the BOTS every day.
The shop will change (although not immedately) and be far easier to navigate and use.
Many of the galleries are in the process of changing and today I have uploaded and redescribed over 100 images. Lots of new stuff. There will be moving images called sliders and many more refresh pop ups of gallery photos. It will have a section for video link to You Tube and I am hoping to do short R2E and BLB tutorial videos to play through key mechanisms. May want to recruit some of the R2E gang to help me out with that. :D

The emphasis is going to be predominantly about supporting WordTwister rule mechanisms such as Republic to Empire and Beneath the Lily Banners and soon Victory without Quarter.

Hope we don't run into too many teething probs and I hope you like the new look. There may be a short interruption in continuity tonight as the change over start to happen

Quite a nice redesign, and lots of new pictures!

We'll have a few teething troubles with compressed images here and there but that will all get sorted out soon

This looks good. I wish you well with the changes and hope they don't give you too many headaches.

The site does indeed look good.

In the spirit of constructive feedback ... one feature I will miss is the Latest updates section in the right hand margin of the old Home page. It used to alert me to new pictures etc that had been posted to the site. I am unlikely to stumble across them as I do not trawl through the site often being a daily visitor but mostly to the forum. Perhaps a similar feature is available and I've just missed it!

Congratulations on the new look. A job well done by all involved.

The only major quibble is that the default font for the Forums is a fairly light gray, and folks might have trouble reading posts because there is insufficient contrast.

You'll still see some mucking around from us over the next couple of weeks as things are bedded in. There is a resolution issue with some of the photos which is more a function of the photo shape and dimensions than the site.
You'll also notice that the refresh side bar has much more variety than before with many shots now appearing in it. This will allow you to catch a glimpse of photos you may never have found otherwise as the are buried DEEP IN THE BOWELS of the side ... oooh er, keep it clean

Von Peter, hope you have noticed how responsive Stuart is to feedback... he put your new items link back up!

Rob, I quite like the grey text... repeat after me..

Nice make over! Congratulations to all involved.

Does look 'brighter' and the larger font size is very easy on even these tired old eyes. Love the changing 'splash' pictures on the home page. I'm off to explore...

Makes a pleasant change for a website overhaul to be an improvement, congrats to all involved.

Now I really must get back to painting, but all the pretty pictures...... :)
