Question on Port Arthur russo jap war

Am i correct them there was a trench system then a chinese Wall for the defence ? and if so its a pretty long wall so what did it look like at Port Arthur ? was it complete at the place ... reason i am asking i'm gonna have a crack at building it for a game, but need info.

Also google "Siege of Port Arthur" and check out the images.

I've never seen "complex" ww1 style trenches with duckboards and firing steps in anything related to port arthur, but no reason why these wouldn't exist in more prepared positions or incomplete forts. After all both the Crimea and the ACW had extensive sieges and since Port Arthur was probably the last great Vaughan-esque fort constructed, there was an established method of besieging these involving trenches, saps, parallels, mines, etc.

I suspect that wire, if used, wasn't coiled but stretched out to trip attackers not ensnare them.

apparently some of the wire was electrified which the cunning Japs sorted by issuing insulated wire cutters!
