Rebellion in the Reign of Charles II book

Post by The Rabblerouser » Tue Feb 06, 2018 11:11 am

Just read this book by an ex-member of the ministry of Intelligence about the threats to the Merry Monarchs reign and intelligence services. The usual stuff such as Titus Oates and the Colonel Blood make an appearance but there is also some interesting information including convert operations in extraditing Regicides from the United Provenances.

Also covers the the rebellions Coventers in the Scotland and the "Cameronians" in Galloway(some local history for you Barry). There is also the political conflict between Charles and his Minsters and close friends. Some potential what-ifs for wargaming for some of the various attempts to start a rebellion in the three kingdoms(most of which involved trying to size the tower of London).

Definitely recommend read and could be useful for ideas for some Donnybrook scenarios.
