No chance Jim, it's not just frosting the last layer of varnish has penetrated down to the paint which has caused the layers of paint, gloss, so called Deluxe Matt Varnish to diffuse right down to the paint layers and cause cracking all over all of the models.j1mwallace wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 10:31 amolive oil should fix this . Strange fix but it worked for me . Try it on one to start with obviously . Bugger of a thing to happen .
I'm just banging on with the start of the Gonzalo de Cordoba army for Cerignola Jim. I'm using The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge as an excuse to plough of after the varnishing bebacle.j1mwallace wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:13 amVery annoying to say the least ! By the way i like your artillery piece . Have you a specific army you are adding to ?
Yeah, I got the "It hasn't happened to anyone else and the varnish is very flat matt spiel", even after trying it out again on a new miniature and sending pics. Apologies for blowing my own trumpet, but I've been painting for a very long time and I know what I'm doing. I think my experience trumps the effect of the varnish. It's so frustrating. I spent £50 on varnish I was promised was " a deadflat matt" and it was anything butAdam Hayes wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:25 pmOuch! That's horrendous! Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? They might have something useful to say...
If only the guy who sold me the varnish had been honest about it mateRogerC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:30 pmI dont use Minibits deluxe matt varnish I dont like it and chum Jerry who takes commissions has had the same issue as you, I use Minibu=its quick drying matt varnish and its actually the bets varnish I have ever worked with. Not erhaps what you want to hear but I owuld bin the deluxe and use the quick dry personally.
