My TWY Army (III)

Post by nelsons-signal » Fri Sep 04, 2015 12:08 pm

Hello friends,
I´m glad I´ve finished the Swedish Infantry and Artillery already.

I WILL replace ALL FLAGS soon!
I love the new TYW flags shown by Barry!

The Swedish Infantry consists now of 9 complete Regiments and 2 Regiments with 24 Musketeers (without Pikes) - to be embedded in Cavalry-blocks. The Swedish have 5 Regimental Guns + 2 Regimental Guns - to be embedded in Cavalry-blocks - 3 Medium Guns - and two heavy Guns (not pictured yet)!

Thank you for watching!

Regards
Achim

Hello turrabear, :D

I´m sorry I coudn´t give you a reply to your last post to TYW I.
I was unintentional prevented - unfortunately.

The swedish unit (TYW I) consists of 5 bases. Pike-block, 2 musketeer bases of 8 figures and 2 musketeer-bases of 4 figures.

The base size for 8 Musketeers is 6,5 cm wide and 4,5 cm deep.
This corresponds with the pike-block which is 6,5 cm wide too and 7,5 cm deep.
The 4 musketeer base is half of the 8 figures base - 6,5 cm wide and 2,25 cm deep (so this two 4 figure-bases can simulate one 8 figure-base.

The Imperial Regiment has the same structure but 10 figure musketier-bases and 15-16 pikes (+Command-figures) in the pike-block.
The 10 figures musketeer-base is 8,5 cm wide and 4,5 cm deep.
This corresponds again with the pike-block which is 8,5 cm wide too and 7,5 cm deep.

When I started to fit in sergeants directly on the base - the 8 figure base became in size a 10 figure base and 8,5 cm wide - the 10 figure base + sergeant is 10 cm wide.

Best regards
Achim

You should be proud of such an impressive collection, they would happily grace any Wargames table.

Magnificent looking army.
The period that dominated my early years in the hobby & seeing this array of troops brings back some great memories.

Hello j1mwallance,

the undercoat is sprayed - light grey.

Please send me you email-adress through "private messages". I will send you some high resolution pictures (4-5 MB). You will see any brushstroke on this.

Achim,

I really must congratulate on such a superb army. From unit composition showing the depth required to make the formations credible. To the nice bright painting style which has taken the Old Glory range to greater visual heights.
You have inspired me to blow the dust off my lead pile of Renegade/Bicorne and get them painted & based as Imperial Tercios.

One question I have for you as a good friend is looking at investing in a Swedish army from either Old Glory or potentially 1st Corp. Is which Old Glory packs would you recommend to building the regiments from, as my experience is they can be quite a mixed bag (literally) of sculpting and poses?

Regards,
Nick

Simply amazing. What rule set will they fight and die to?
