Montrose's Irish Brigade dress

Post by Don Sebastian » Tue Jun 14, 2016 1:46 am

Dear Fellows,

What is the current learned opinion on the dress of Montrose's Irish Brigade? Would the soldiers have uniforms? What were they? And if not, would their dress resemble the scottish lowlanders or highlanders?

Try

Famous by My Sword

from Helion - It is Montrose's Army in the military revolution. In the form popularized by Osprey, plenty of plates and re enactor photos. It show Highland dress for the Highlanders and for some of the Irish together with a combination of Scots Lowland dress and more traditional period clothes for the Irish also

thank you for the recommendation Barry, if I may be so bold as to add this image from my book. By Tony Barton, it depicts a musketeer from one of the three Irish regiments that fought with Montrose
