Battle of Verneuil 1424 Salute Demo Game Pics

Hi,

I thought a few of you may be interested in seeing a few pics of the demo of the Battle of Verneuil that both Simon Chick and I put on for the Lance and Longbow Society at Salute a few weeks ago. Quite astonishingly we won best demo game which came as a real surprise- if anyone was the WI Gallipoli set up they will know what I mean). It seems it's Salute policy to automatically disqualify any games that are 'professionally' run! I may be wrong on this point?

Anyway, we had a wonderfull time putting on the game so I thought I'd share:

The pics are a mix supplied to me by Joe Dever, Ray and Phil Steele. I forgot to put the battery back in my camera!

You do yourself a disservice Darrell, it's an excellent game and a worthy winner. I have seen the Gallipoli game too btw.

The award was well deserved, an excellent display and game.

Hope to see again at some point, any chance?

Spectacular has it was, the Gallipoli table was what you said it was "a set up" certainly not a game.

This is the very first Medieval game I've seen I would want to play, so far I have stayed away from medievals with a passion.

How big was the table, and how many figures did you use?

Ah, sorry. Off the top of my head I don't really know- my stuff is based for Impetus and simon's stuff was based on 50x50mm squares placed on Oshira 100x50mm clear perspex bases.

I'll try to come up with a more coherent answer when I've had my coffee

You didn't see the game?

Actually, thinking about it now, we seemed to be missing from a number of Salute games posts on a some fora.....

Wonder if it was where the game was positioned? Or maybe they took one look at us and thought..... Nope! staying away from that bunch!!

Saw it in the flesh (or better, tin) but it was great. The combination of figures and beautiful terrain/castle is terrific. Liked also the small details on the battlfield and inside the castle

About 95% of the miniatures are from the Perry Agincour to Orleans range. Both Simon and I agree that the Perry stuff is the most dynamic in terms of pose and they really look like they are fighting which helps enormously). There are a few other bits and bobs by (mainly Foundry or the( old GW Bretonnian range), thrown in here and there, the odd conversion etc.
