Shieldwall Markers Experiment!

Post by Atheling » Sat Nov 21, 2020 2:36 pm

I've been messing around trying to create convincing markers for my Anglo Danes for when they go into Shieldwall........

I think I've finally nailed the correct size for the bases to number of mini's(?). I didn't want the markers to overwhelm the units. I hope I've hit the right spot?

Many more pics and high brow reasoning on my blog:

Great looking bases! That additional segment gets across the idea nicely. My only thought was, when would they not be in shieldwall? (Running away or marching onto the battlefield presumably...)

Depends on the rules. I think of "Shieldwall" (is an abstraction) of being very close order thus enhancing any defence value they get as per the rules. Not all rules have the "Shieldwall" ability as ubiquitous across the whole range of situations a "unit" might find itself in. Usually with a penalty to movement so a trade off.

Anyway, they looked nice so I painted them up
