Frankish Command Base 1

Post by Atheling » Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:43 am

It's been a week of putting together a lot of bits and bobs as well as waiting for some LBMS transfers to arrive, which they did, but are now sitting patiently in my "quarantine" pile :)

I managed to get a couple of Disorder/Discouraged/Routing/Casualty Markers painted, glossed and matted down along with a few Command Stands but only the Frankish Command Case is 100% complete.

There are are the usual extra pics from differing angles etc and mutterings on my blog if you would like to look:

It’s certainly very quiet these days but it could be that more people like me are now using Facebook?
I can post photos and comments to specific sites and I get a much better response than I ever did from my blog.

Two, I think, sad phenomena. Blogs were great for a kind of internal and external discussion about ones hobby. The various fora were/are a brilliant quorum for the gathering of like minded folk and the discussion of ideas.

I've had some very funny moments on Facebook such as where I've asked a specific question only to receive 76 likes and no answer  I can only assume a lot of people liked my question   Just weird.

Bring back Yahoo Groups!

The flag is not painted by yourself, yes?

I don't use Facebook. Never will.

Explanation by quoting an Austrian Comedian:

Facebook is to become spied on a voluntary Basis.
„Macht Euch Euren Dregg alleene“

"Sort your filth out by yourself!" The King of Saxony Friedrich August III., at his abdication 1918, referred to the quarrels in the parliament and the squabbling within the provisional government.

Yeah, it's an LBMS transfer. I'm currently painting up three armies; Anglo Danes, Franks and Early Byzantines. Due to time constraints I opted to hand paint the banners on one army only and stick to LBMS transfers for the rest. I simply don't have the time to do the research and to paint up the banners for all three armies- see image below for hand painted banner.

Yeah, I know what you mean and agree. Havinf said that, when you take into account the fact that that no matter what website one uses, a large amount of data is 'stolen' from us with every click; I don't think it makes all that much difference in the grand scheme of things. My main issue with the drift over to FB is simple, it is almost impossible to have a conversation with any degree of nuance. In other words, it is practically impossible to communicate efficiently. :)

Example of hand painted banner:
