Russians

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

I have tried many attempts to post some actual pics here but all I seem to have managed is to post this link but at least it takes you to my folder.
Thanks to Barry for taking the pics.

Cheers

Dave,

Nice. Old Buggeration looks a bit like the CoffinDodger only better painted.

Hi Dave,

OK here go's.....first of all while writing your post on here decide where you want photo to appear, then log in to your photobucket album, select which photo you wish to post on here by rolling your mouse over it when four code boxes should appear. On the 4th box i.e. the IMG code box right click the code and copy it, now go back to your message on here and right click again where you want your photo to be and click on paste.
Don't panic if only the IMG code appear's as once you preview or submit your post your photo should appear.......simples. :?

My Dear Mr O'Brien,

We represent CoffinDodger who has been caused severe distress not to mention utter embarrassment when comparing the standards of painting, by your blatant act of plagiarism.

We are instructed to settle for nothing less that a large G&T with a dash of Angostura at your earliest convenience.

That is unless you state in your defence that the above figurine is the only bald one in the Front Rank Napoleonic range and we baldies should stick together.

Sincerely,

Grabbitt, Grabbitt and Smallpiece

Hi Dave,

If Nicolas (Davout) has ever known that he would endup as a russian Officer  I think he wouldnt have quarrels with all the other Marshals.

Beautiful painted Vignette.

Thanks for you input Ray, it looks as if I have finally worked it out.
Jim, you are correct, us baldies need to stick together and I was inspired by your figure to get one for myself and I should re-do one for my American as the one Aly Morrison did for me is looking a bit dated now as I have a lot less hair and now have specs.

Very nice looking mini-brigade there, Mr. O'Brien! :D

I like the 'mix' of figures you've used in the various units, and the fact that the gun crew figures seem to be a mix of Foundry and Sash & Sabre(? Front Rank?), that look fine together. Any particular reason the Grenadier battalion is not carrying flags? (Just curious . . .)

The challenge for my next Jäger battalion, will be to 'headswap' all the Foundry cap-headed firing figures for shako-wearing heads, and re-sculpting all the low-hanging shako cords and flounders from Greenstuff. Fun = Not!

The Grenadier battalion is a coverged unit from three grenadier companies from the 2nd battalions of the regiments in the division I am painting. I will eventually get around to painting some proper Grenadier regiments. Have fun with your sculpting project, it sounds quite a challenge and not something I would attempt with the 10 thumbs I seem to have developed in my old age.

Dave,

That's why I love the period covered by BtLB - every bugger wore a wig!

Are you going to have a unit painted for Claymore or are you aiming towards the August weekend?

Hi Dave,

I see you got the hang of posting photo's on here now.....the "Simples" comment comes from a TV advert for cheaper car insurance.com, I thought everyone would have seen it or don't they have TV where you live.
Excellent Russian brigade of infantry supported by a artillery battery or does that count as two batteries??? I know the Russians always had large amounts of artillery.

See you at Claymore in August,

Regards......Ray.
