Here come the Cavalry.

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

Mr Blade,

This is the usuall IN-PERIOD banter between Churchill and I so I wouldn't read too much into it. His Scottish regiments are Protestant lackeys and his volatile British cavalry charge more than one of Charlie Sheen's girlfriends. And get screwed just as often.

All the best,

Jim

Ray,

I had the same experience at last month's weekender when my newly painted battalion of 36 figures, resplendent in their white uniforms, were on attack orders in front of the Raevski Redoubt. I think there were seven figures left after the first salvo.

Will I see you at the May one-dayer since it seems there are no weekenders until August? I missed your company and banter at the last one.

Regards,

Jim

Bill,

This is the whole battalion in 10/1 scale - some eighty-odd figures:

Now, that's what you call a line!

They can be fielded as two 36-figure units for RtE but are also able to be fielded as one 72-figure unit for R2E2 (whatever that is but I hope it contains rules for playing in 10/1 scale).

Regards,

Jim

Ray,

That's my favourite ACW battle. What rules and what scale of figures are you using?

Mr Churchill,
Just as you say old James the S**thead, was no Marllborough, but Marlborough was clever to jump ship when the going was rough!
To my mind Churchills skill on the battlefield was as nothing to his diplomacy and political knowledge.
So if James had won at the Boyne or later and regained the throne, would he have been a French pawn? And would the British people suffer a French garrison to keep the peace?
Sorry...but you've got me thinking....wouldn't it be a good "what if scenario"?

Anyway, you're figures are inspirational, and i salute you're research, and sometimes you do have to make your own mind up with the uniform details. :D

Ray,

I think that's why I call them "The Terrible Thirty-Third".

Bill,

Yes, 50mm bases.

Churchill, old boy,
I meant that Marlborough fought for James II at Sedgemoor and then against him and his newly aquired French mates when old James fell out of favour. I confess i'm no historian but doesn't that make him at best someone who knows when to "jump ship" and i realise he wasnt the only one. Still, to bear arms against a rightful King! Good job for him James or indeed his son, never got back eh! There were rumours Churchill had been paid by William. In his hour of need James found Churchill distancing himself from him........Hadn't James given him his early Military training, and promoted him too?

All the best and keep up the research.
