The raising of the Saxon Army 1699-1712

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

Great looking battery, Günter. Looking at my paltry (as yet unpainted) single Huguenot cannon, I think I'm suffering a bit of 'lead envy' :D

Good to hear the plans for the Saxon invasion of England this October are advancing well.

Thank You Colin!
You know me! I am not the one who thinks small  :D
In your case you have one Brigade with one gun.
My Army goes for 8 Brigades with 8 Regimental and 7 Field Batteries.
So your Huguenots are no paltry force at all!

Yeah, the Invasion Forces are gatherin here in Austria and in Scotland!
But I think they will only have a spectator role..

Love the vignette of the Quartermaster sampling the quality of the goods.
Keep up the good work Gunter!

Gentlemen,

Thank You for your kind words.

Greg,
the Quartermaster is, like all the stuff on the Vignette, from my Napoleonic Saxon Sculptor Steve Barber. The Figure code is
LE7/8 2 x 18th Century Drunks (metal)

Maybe that is a good opportunity to tell you all that Steve is offering to sculpt almost anything you always wanted to have:

Custom made sculpting and design service

If you are interested in having a figure made or a regiment or even an army made, we can help you. It might be the your favourite general made especially for you. It might be that overlooked unit that you have always wanted to see made. We can make those wishes come true. Your miniatures will be sculpted by Steve and made to your specifications, scale and pose. Your name will go underneath the miniature/s when they are listed on this website. This is an affordable option to seeing miniatures that you have always wanted to see made. Email for more details. enquiries@stevebarbermodels.com

Gents,

While some pieces fall into their place for the future invasion of England by my Saxon Army I wonder how I can put them into the boxes whithout conflicts because of my large flags that hang of the ends of the bases by almost one Inch!
My first idea to place the miniature in the back of the bases now works against me
The flags are still TO LARGE.
It appears that my bases may be to small or the arrangement of the flag bearers on the bases are wrong
So I scrubbing the back of my head until I figure out how I put them into the boxes and transport them without causing incidents...

Rather than transport them in their units could you instead put the stands with standards in a deeper separate box?

Jim, thank you for your thoughts. The main problem with the flags are their lenght, not the hight. The fly touches the figures behind. In the meantime I found out that I have to be careful when glueing the flags to the open handed figures. If I turn them a bit to the left or right they wont touch the next unit behind.

Consider placing rows of unfinished bases in the box between rows of bases on which you have figures. That way the flags won't touch the figures on the bases "behind' them. That will take up more room and the stands might get knocked around a bit in transit, but it might alleviate some of the problem.
