The Bhoys are back in town

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

The Bhoys are back in town

Post by obriendavid » Sun Jul 22, 2012 3:51 pm

Here is the start of my Jacobite army for Ireland but as the flags are loose they can easily be used for other armies on the continent.

Dave

Really nice - looking forward to the LoGW weekend November 2013 to cross swords with them...

(on the 'Lizzy' theme.....)

....they look like true 'Warriors' and I like the 'Emerald' green on the flags.....

...and is that a small 'prison' they passing....they could 'Jailbreak' some recruits...possibly 'Tonight.....'

Well funny that the Lizzy theme has crept in.. I just finished an article for CSG for his Annual which is all about Ireland in the 1690s and mentioned the Lizzy connections in it..... Wild One is in fact about the Wild Geese, Warrior, Black Rose, Soldier of Fortune, Massacre, Out in the Fields and of course that old Rapparee Anthem..... Whiskey in the Jar!

We are building an impressive array of Warfare units for Derby. Already we have about 20+ battalions painted. By the game in October the total number of Warfare units on the table should be in the region of 50 including Horse... I am really excited by that prospect and the really beautiful stuff already completed by Bob, Paul, Dave, Ade and others in the gang.. not to mention Clarence's wonderful stuff which alas will be unable to swim the Atlantic for the gig!

Thin Lizzie doesn't actually look too thin but nice figure anyway but can't remeber where I got her from. Certainly enjoying painting the figures and the dismounted dragoons are a sheer joy and looking forward to painting more of them, and guns, wagons, infantry regiments, cav
See what you've done to me again Hilton
Fantastic work on the flags Clarence, they really make the figures stand out.
Cheers

Lovely, I like the way you have folded the flags.

Well I am so glad you have finally weaned yourself away from the Marlborough cult  That is the herd mentality component of the era... show a bit of individualism Dave.. stay with the lesser known, more interesting earlier era.

It is the difference between liking Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.

Purple.... all front and not much substance (WSS)
 Zep... multi dimensional, multi layered and infinitely more subtle and nuanced but with enough oomph to blow you into the next century (NYW)

......

....does this mean that all churches are now going to be known as ...

.....'Houses of The Holy'....

.....and I think I'll start collecting '40K'........ I can then go 'Space Truckin'....

(for those that I've just offended...I'm not really serious about '40K' - HONEST!!!!!)

P.S Can we get off the 'Bands' references now...I'll not get nowt done otherwise, thinking of title tracks...!!!!!

Being a Black Sabbath fan I sometimes get Paranoid!
or am I just imagining things?

Thought my original post would cast up a load of puns.
