Very well painted gun and crew! I like it!

Question:
I have read somewhere that the colour of the guns changed with the gender of their Ruklers? AFAIK red was for female and green for male rulers. Like while Empress Elisabeth ruled in the 7YW all guns were red and with Alexander green. It may be that at Peter the Great rule that wasnt invented yet...

Cheers,
Günter

I've honestly not read that tbh. I can live with the red though (I copied Barry's guns in BLB if truth be told  )

I've never heard of that either and like Bill I will be going with red for my Russian artillery, when I get around to doing some.
Cheers

Very nice bill! May i ask what colors did you use for the reds of the guns? Are there used any browns?

I used a mix of reds and a brown.
The gun was base coated with Horse Chestnut (Coat d'arms) and then highlighted with Khador Red Blood (P3 paints)

The crew were base coated with Skorne Red and then highlighted with Khador Red Blood and Foundry light red.

Hope that helps

Russian gun carriages during the GNW were probably not red with black metal.

In 1700 and 1710 they were reported as red with yellow metal and in 1707 they were green with black metal. Red carriages with black metal were used after the GNW.

For yellow metal, would that be painted or brass do you think?

I assume it means iron fittings painted yellow in order to prevent rust. My source to this is Lars-Eric Höglund's book on Russian uniforms.
