What would you need to do to adapt BLB to 7YW?
Is it possible?

Gunfreak, it has already been done I believe. Many of the Swedish GNW adaptations were used for the Prussians. All other mechanisms are easy to use without almost any adaptions. Some changes for light troops that's all.

Now this could turn out to be a very, very interesting thread in which "the group" could offer their thoughts. Moderated of coarse by our esteemed fearless leader. I fear however that Barry does not have enough hours in the day to do it justice.
Just say'in......

Artimas, thanks for your concern for my welfare
I am fairly resilient however. The biggest weakness in the plan is a lack of SYW knowledge from my side!
If the expertise is provided by others I can certainly chime in on the mechanics. I would think General Buggeration and others will form the 'bridge' between rules and period.

The one thing I think must go, is the Platoon vs rank fire.
The prussian did use platonn fire, but the austrian/french ect. I think used just 3 rank volley.

Sorry but I don't understand your reasoning here, you say the difference in firing should be taken out but then go on to say that the different armies used exactly the same firing techniques.

I'm pretty sure that by the time of the SYW the Austrians had adopted a version of the Prussian fire system. Although different nationalities seemed to have a varying aptitude to the firefight, I suspect that it might have more to do with the discipline and experience of the soldiers rather than dramatically different fire systems.

Actually I would prefer to see R2E reworked for SYW.
