Once again, thank you Gentlemen.

My target is to have by Christmas: 12 battalions of foot in three brigades, 18 squadrons of horse in two brigades, six guns, two regiments of dragoons with mounted and dismounted bases and a two-base unit of converged grenadiers.

And that's just the French side!

Will keep you posted.

Jim

PS: I did realise that Reiver and Front Rank do two different periods. I suppose what I really meant was are they similar enough to each other in size?

Hi If you intend to go for that much then note that Front Rank will give you 15% off an order of £300. If you add to that the discount for the battalion packs it works out at about 20%

That is how we have been working towards our armies round here.

It's all a matter of taste.

Hello Jim,

Welcome to this forum and I hope I can help in your choice of figures for this period.
First of all the haven't said which part of the period your interested in e.g. Glorious Revolution (War in Ireland), League of Augsburg or War of Spanish Succession.
I am interested in the Battle of Blenheim 1704 and decided on Front Rank Miniatures because of the good castings and choice within their range.
With these being 28mm rather than 25mm I based my infantry on a 50mm x 50mm base as this works fine and at the end of the day it's the number of bases firing that counts.
You can see my regiments on my Blenheim OOB Thread.
If your interested in the Glorious Revolution I'd go with Reiver Castings.

Kind Regards........Ray.

Size wise they are fine. Style wise ok as well. The glory of the sun figures are dressed for an earlier period, 9 years war and are in floppier hats. I have some that I'm using as the more provincial battalions. The officers and sergeants I would mix occasionally in with Front rank for some variety.
its really the dress that stands out as opposed to the figures.

Ray,

Thanks - you nearly stopped me from proceeding any further! Those are excellent, Sir. Mine will not be in the same league as these works of art but, they will be mine.

Regards,

Jim
