Justin,

I have absolutely no problem with that in fact, I would welcome it. I think it is important that gamers share their views, both positive and negative(if there is some of that).
There are significant differences between 1st and 2nd editions. These are not just cosmetic. The fundamental differences lie in troop classification, formation, movement, close combat and morale.
Subtle differences appear in Shooting and CC factors and orders.
Additions come from FIBUA, Optional rules and the inclusion of Eastern European and North Amercian variants.
The 2nd edition took longer than the first edition to write and play test despite the fact that it is firmly rooted and obviously an evolution of, the 1st edition. I know some players will 'hark back' to 1st edition.. that always happens with any rule set but let's see. I feel it is even more period nauanced now but the gamers are the arbiters not I...

Let's see who opens the thread up.....

If only my postie had been a bit less conscientious (yes I had to check how to spell that!) I'd have got mine yesterday too. As it is, I picked it up this morning.

I must say, having a good sniff of it wasn't the first thing that crossed my mind, but the general layout and pretty pictures look fabulous. I look forward to reading it thoroughly.

Now, when's the first big V2 game at Whitburn?

Jim always picks up on things others miss! Barry and I debated long and hard over the aroma of the book and I'm glad to see someone appreciated it...

Actually it does smell quite nice

Well, the first V2 game at Whitburn, yes a few people have asked about that Andy. It will definitely happen probably just after the Summer as I am travelling a lot between now and August.

Clarence, that's where you and I differ and sixty-two years of experience come into play. 8)

So do I.

I've been looking for that elusive game that captures my thoughts on the period (haven't we all). So far (up to the end of the Artillery chapter) I find myself nodding a lot at BLB2.

The description of 17th-18th Century roads was wonderful and reminded me very much of the opening chapters of Pursuit of Glory.

As long as you are not NODDING OFF Sestos! :D

A quote from the furthest(and perhaps most civilized) corner of the planet:

Hi from Perth, WA
Just letting you know that it has reached the furthest edges of the empire.
My copy arrived today, all sound.
Now to sit back and await the progress of the miniatures as well as the howls from the nay sayers.
That reminds me, must look in on TMP.
All the best

Andy Morant

So, if you ordered BLB2 in preorder and it is not there yet..
Houston, we have a problem!
