I don’t think that not a lot of interest in the 1805-1807 is due to an Anglo-Saxon bias. It is just that the French are at their best at that time and it is hard to over come that. The later periods are a little easier as in many ways the armies are more evenly matched.
I prefer the 1796-1797 period in particular the German front. I actually don’t play very much of the latter period, to many guns and conscripts. I like the earlier period where you really see the difference in the doctrine of the armies. In many ways 1806 holds lots of potential, although the French are good, the Prussian have very good troops and the linear doctrine they are using still works for smaller armies, but falls apart when their army gets to big.
The problem is you have the two big battles in situations that are the worst possible for a linear army, Jena with lots of broken ground with woods and towns breaking up the lines and Auerstadt where the Prussians are trying to deploy from march formations, both the worst possible for the poor Prussians. However, when you get good detailed accounts of the battles you will see the Prussians where tough troops.
