Allright Lads,

If I can't be there in body, I can at least be there in soul. So:

Image
Vive la France!

General Le Tog, spread those BLEEP manoeuvre points!

Mes amis, if it doesn't have a French flag, CHARGE IT!

Get yer skates on! oops... erm.. it's a winter scenario...

Dave O, winter scenario or not, you can't have Yeti as an event!

Orabest,

Jim

Well,

on a Summers day in Whitburn we played a Winters day in France.

This involved several new twists including:

Blind movement & Bluff markers for Division positions

The scenario was a very big version of the Steinbeke scenario from BLB2 transposed into the Naps period.

The French had a large 'catcher's mit' and tried to stop Russian and Bavarian units darting over a finish line 10 feet from their own start line.
We played on a 12 x 12 table.

It was pretty exciting and 3 battalions of the OLD GUARD were effectively routed or destroyed but the French ran out winners.

Highlight of the day: Imrie's moonwalking
Low point of the day: Alan Cuggy's dice throwing

Maybe's not Jim, but I bet David could produce a host of Russian Bears who could dance about your men. Grrrrr
Ray.
Ray, what a stroke of genious, Russian Bears!
I had never thought of that as a special event but now that you've mentioned it I'll pass on all the complaints to you.

Jim and Paul, you both missed a great game with lots of new units getting their first outing and lots of space for large cavalry charges. The Allies (Russians and Bavarians) were about to win when the Francophile umpire produced a brigade of dragoons behind the rear of my remaining cossack division and you can imagine the results :(
Hope you're feeling a bit better Jim?
Cheers
Dave

Clearly a touch of the 'Normandy Syndrome' creeping in there in 'Moonwalker Imrie's' post on SaxonDog Blog.... In Normandy, every German tank was a Tiger..
In Whitburn, every French cavalry unit was GUARD! MrI was taking on my French Marie Louise cavalry mounted on Clothes Horses with his VETERAN ELITE RUSSIAN DOLPH LUNDGREN ROCKY 3? GRENADIERS.........

David, people will be getting the wrong impression about you....

The Francophile umpire is clearly being ecconomical with the truth as all the units my Cossacks pushed back or destroyed all happened to be Veteran, Elite or Guard

Unit of the game has to go my 2 gun cossack horse artillery battery which pushed back two top quality hussars untis twice and routed a whole grenadier battalion of the Guard all on their own
Cheers

Oui... tres bon

I thought the John le Carre code was going to spell out something like

w e e t w a t !

Then that would have been La Guerre Monsieur!

I just can't believe what I am reading, the borsch eaters are not just being economical with the truth, they are completely rewriting history.

As commander of more novices than would be seen at the opening of a new nunnery, about 1\2 the number of troops and only 3 units on the table at the start of the game, I feel the truth should out.

France has been saved from the savages from the east (and their rather strange dancing!),as well as the traitorous Bavarians.

This was all achieved despite having numerous morale minusses & Alan only having 1 spot on his dice.

Great game guys, big thanks to Barry& D'OB, a really fun day.

Do it all again in August

And More MP's than you knew what to do with!!!! :D :D Where was Jim when you needed someone to give MP's to????

Another great game. Well played on both sides in the best of spirit as well. Two French squares broken by Glorious Russian Cavalry charges and Donohoe managing to kill his Bavarian Divisional General just as he was about to cross the finishing line!!!!

Oh Merde!!!

Cheers
