Chaps,

you've probably recognised my style now with regard to these issues..

Throw out the idea
Watch how people respond/brainstorm/debate
Try and get to the 'kernel' and adopt/reject
Incorporate
Play test
Finalise

Many brains are better than one. I have no monopoly on ideas, you are the gamers as well as I. iI think we have a cracking balance on this forum.. everyone is respectful. .so keep it coming please.

Had a great chat with MrSpock(Dave O'Brien) today.. mirroring the direction of this thread.
We agreed that BLB needed tweaked and more play examples included but not major surgery...

The free thinking is fantastic.. let's juts recap on the positive changes we've accrued from these few weeks:

1. Orders clarification
2. Movement clarification
3. Formations rationalisation
4. Shooting adjustments
5. Charging options, Threading
6. Artillery tightened up
7. Quicker combats
8. Morale anomalies adjusted
9. PROSCRIPTION of DAverage by order of Congress and the Senate!
10. Blade & Bullet

I could go on.. but I would prefer if you chaps did!

10. Blade & Bullet
Ah actually we don't like the 'Blade and Bullet' thing

Sounded a bit Flashing Blade and when we thought about that we felt very

How about Shock Horse and Horse.

Oh and as we are on that (well we are now :) ) We thought that Shock Horse should only get this on contact if they charge/counter charge, otherwise count as other Horse.

I was under the impression you had to charge 3" to get either bonus.

How 'bout pistol and sabre? Are there any copy write issues in the rules world?

The squadron argument is put to bed now:

Squadrons will remain as is. The 'no test for victors' of close combat even at strengths of less than 50% overcomes the brittle issue and at least allows survivors to consolidate.
Cavalry ARE a one shot weapon. All or Nothing Charges are the way to put in the decisive manoeuvre.

Against RAW and DRILLED Foot the winning is not in the combat but in putting the charge forward and making them test!

Never charge Guards frontally - Dave O'Brien will tell you a thing or two about that!

It didn't help that they refused to charge three times and suffered heavy losses from fire each time
When I eventually managed to get them in they got completely destroyed.

Cheers
Dave

A few players in our group learned that the hard way too, at least they can find comfort in knowing that it can happen to the best! ;)

Good to know that this is settled, I think it will work just fine!
