League Of Augsburg - Fighting Talk

The historical Battle of White Plains took place on Monday, October 28, 1776, between a British Army, under the command of General Sir William Howe, and an American Army, under the command of General George Washington. About 4,000 British and Hessian troops, from a force of about 14,000 troops, were engaged in this battle with about 1,450 to 1,600 American troops, from a force of about 14,500 troops. This battle ended with a British victory, when British and Hessian troops, advancing from their encampment in Eastchester, forced the American troops defending Chatterton's Hill (now Battle Hill), in White Plains, about six miles away, to retreat, northward.

Just lovely Malc!
It is a great little war to fight and you can get some lovely figures these days. When I started fighting the period many moons ago there were only Minifigs and Hinchcliffe that produced figures so my mate Jack and myself decided to go with a company called Stone Mountain Miniatures that did a lovely range of 15mm figures. We had some great battles using Loose Files and American Scramble rules but sadly the last number of times I've fought the period it's been with Black Powder and I didn't really enjoy the games although I felt the rules worked a bit better for this period than any other we fought.

Gentlemen,
Forgive me for sullying this thread (I stand by to be directed to chip-in to another, more apposite, one ), but I have got carried away by the enthusiasm for AWI.
I therefore feel encouraged to recommend a simply brilliant (and in my opinion, inspiring) work of fiction, 'Washington and Caesar' by Christian Cameron. It tells the tale of a former slave of George Washington in a fictional Loyalist Corps of Black Guides.
It is a cracking account of leadership and, at times, deeply moving.
