Powdered Hair or not in the mid-18th century?

Post by Rohan Wilmott » Sun Jun 15, 2014 12:18 pm

Hello, All!

I am painting some mid 18th century regiments of Minden figures at present, and it just struck me that I do not know if I'm doing things correctly.

Looking at various pictures & texts I cannot really discover if the foot & mounted OR's of the WAS/SYW era had their hair natural or powdered when pulled back into the queue.

With some of the French figures, the hair style suggests that they did not use powder, but the Hanoverian & Prussian types suggest that they might have.

Can anyone help me with this, please, before I have to redo too many figures?

Cheers, Rohan.
