Not a silly question at all. What i mean is:
The diagonal straps supporting pouches, bayonet frogs etc will cross left over right or right over left, ie when you look at the figure one strap will be on top of the other in the centre of the chest and at the centre of the back.
The Russians had the opposite configuration to the Brits so the straps `cross' the wrong way. Recrossing the webbing is relatively simple:
take a small file and minimise or remove the current configuration by filing down. Don't obliterate the straps though! Once done, use a scalpel to replace the `crossing' in the opposite pattern so for example left over right becomes right over left.
