Hi Lindsay,

Do you have any info on this at all or are you starting from scratch?

I have a fair bit but wouldn't want to duplicate anything you have already

Hi Lindsay,

Try this site for flag info:-

www.drapeaux.org

In fact I would recommend this site to everyone who visits LOA.

I have some pics done By O'Brian of Irish in French service.
I know that the French Irish all wore Red coats to show alligence To the Jcobite cause but as regards facings and cuffs most of the info I have is Speculative at best.
The Scots In French Service I have all the Info about as regards Uniforms etc
Scots in Dutch Service I have little info on none of the uniforms mostly where the fought.etc
Scots and Irish in Swedish service I am not sure if they even served much after the Thirty years war.

The Scots/Dutch Brigade of the 1680-1700 period served in Flanders/some in the Sedgemoor Rebellion(but they did not engage), Ireland and Scotland.

Accepted wisdom specifies Red coats. Mackay's reputedly red faced red. Ramsay's/Colyear's Red faced grey or white, Balfour's Red faced yellow.
The others including Argyle's are also reputedly red.

In some cases breeches, waistcoats and stockings were supposed to be in the facing colour. If you don't fancy that the a grey shade would I suspect be safest. Most of these regiments would have been recruited from the lowlands(although Sir Hugh Mackay was from Sutherland - Scourie I believe).

Cheers
