Lots of Dragoon news

Post by barr7430 » Sat Mar 30, 2013 12:53 am

Here is the latest on the dragoons:

We have the dismounted command pack in hats being production moulded now and should be available soon.
Whilst these were in the queue Clibinarium did a variant on the set in fur hats with the officer and ensign still in hats but in new poses. So we'll have 2 sets.
In addition, the French dismounted dragoons are being master moulded next week.

In addition, so are the dollies for the mounted dragoons.

So, soon it will be raining dragoons!

The enthusiasm on this forum makes me laugh with joy! I love it!

I see Osprey are releasing a book on the French Mousqetaires! I look forard to seeing that - though the timeframe as always is huge.

Does anyone know if it going to be part of series on La Maison ?

Yes, you can. Dragoon accoutrements did not change significantly between 1690 and 1715, nor did the general appearance of their uniform. The shoulder knots/ribbons also seem to have been retained by French dragoons after the infantry stopped wearing them in the mid/late 1690's. Not all period pics show dragoons with shoulder knots, mind you, but there is reliable evidence that a least some regiments kept them after 1700 (Hall's book on French dragoons will be of considerable help to you if you're looking for more specifics).

Arthur, do you have any info regarding colour of these knots, were they the same as the cuffs etc.

Cheers

I know I am no expert like most of the others here but may it be that the 'knots' are of the Lining/Lace color?
