I particularly enjoyed painting the fur trimmed lads - the combo of colours I used just worked!

Horses will be greys although I am thinking of doing three squadrons each with distinctive coloured horses

On the grey horses thing - no, just a whim from me! I thought the colour combo would look nice!

On the Command for the HG - nothing planned right now simply because I am unsure whether the grenadiers
a. Carried standards
b. Had officers in grenadier uniform - a bit unusual
c. Had drummers

I was going to use an officer in the regiment and miss out the other supernumaries. Maybe we can get some info on that from members of the forum

a. Carried standards - no own colors because 10 combined Companies
b. Had officers in grenadier uniform - a bit unusual - yes, but tricorne instead of Mitra
c. Had drummers - yes, coming from Dragoon Regiments

Would the different Horse Grenadier companies converged from different regiments have a mixture of fur and double front Mitra’s? Or I wonder if the Colonel’s of these combined Horse Grenadiers would want uniformity as much as possible.

Cheers

Edward

Figure it out:-)

How ever many Horse Grenadier companies there were they were usually concentrated into ad hoc regiments. This happened until 1708 · 1709 when they were organised into permanent Horse Grenadier Regiments, see below.

1708 - 1709: Three Horse Grenadier regiments made permanent, see regiments 38, 39 and 40 below. These consisted of 10 companies each of Horse Grenadiers with each company coming from a different ·Named· dragoon regiment. This would give a regimental strength of circa 1000 men. Immediately below is a list of the regiments which supplied a company to these units.

Regt No. 38: Consisted of the Horse Grenadier companies of the following regiments: - 5, 7, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 28 and 29.

Regt No 39: Consisted of the Horse Grenadier companies of the following regiments: - 2, 4, 6, 8, 17, 22, 24, 25, 26 and 32.

Regt No 40: Consisted of the Horse Grenadier companies of the following regiments: - 1, 3, 9, 10, 13, 15, 19, 23, 27 and 34b

Are there any good overview over the uniforms of these regiments?

Friederich Augustus,

Where did you get your info on which regiments the grenadiers came from to form the permanent ones? I'm not questioning its accuracy, but I'm always look for GNW sources.

Thanks

Dannie

Gunter wouldn,t the horse grnadier companies of a russian dragoon regiment have had their own drums.so is it possible that the drummers would have worn a mitre.
