Have just returmed from my 6 weeks self imposed exile in the Tropics to the latest ed of WI. As it's a Peninsular special the Avila weekender is featured together with game shots, battle report and pictures of the guilty> I am sure there will be some cries of foul at the BATREP but that's what I remember folks and I did get a bit fo extra narrative from Bob, Bill and Gerry. This was the commencement of Napier's officer killing spree.. I seem to remember Killer Colin losing 2? 3? 4? battalion commanders/brigadiers at Periana

We've still never managed to find anyone to beat Adrian's record of losing 13 commanders at the Malplaquet weekend.
Cheers

And here I thought Colin losing 4 or 5 leaders in the first wave of attacks on Day 1 of Bautzen (Derby, March '12) was remarkable . . . 13 for a weekend must be some sort of 'record'!

Yes Bryce it is all the more astonishing when you know that they were ALL lost in a space of roughly 2 feet square! (ie 1 tile). He is good that way Ade, concentration of effort

Remind me, if in the future I end up on Ade's side, to make sure his general comes nowhere near any of my commanders on the table!!,
Imagine Colin and Ade on the same side......dear God!!!!!
Cheers
Gerry
You may call it sarcasm........I, on the other hand, prefer to refer to it as a humorous observation!!!

13! Now that is something to aspire to - perhaps in a couple of weekends time.
Right who wants me in their team?

Guys
With regards to 'how to lose commanders....with style'...
.....I'll be holding 'coaching courses and training' at the next Weekender in October.....!!!
....bring along notepad and pen.....
...but it's not rocket science.....just 13 consecutive poor dice rolls....nothing more...!!!!
Barry, thanks for reminding me of this, yes it was in 1 tile, for the whole weekend....against Mr. Imrie if I recall.....and his pesky Bavarians!!!!
P.S If you thought the 13 commanders killed was bad luck/recklessness then can you remember how many times my cavalry DID'NT charge home....? Those famous words of ...anything but a 1 and they're in...I must have said that on 6 or 7 cosecutive turns....as Dave just sat there pissing himself laughing....!!!!
Reminder to self...must get new dice....
Adrian

If the report was anything other than a resounding Allied success it's all obviously French propaganda
