Open Order vs. Close Order

Gents,
Is there any restrictions or limitations as to what factions can use or not use either movement order?

Not as the rules are written. Close order isn't so much a military precision formation as a physical grouping. Mobs wouldn't hold neat ranks, but the packed wall of humanity works as close order in Donnybrook. Even recruit native troops might be seen as cluster together for security rather than a purpose ordered shield wall.

You are certainly free to impose formation restrictions if you feel it necessary to enforce historical (or historical stereotype) norms to model a specific theater.
