Let me know if you've played any of the scenarios please

Post by barr7430 » Sun Feb 07, 2021 10:29 pm

I am very keen to know what kind of outcomes players managed from the example scenarios:

Which were your ship choices?
What heroics occurred?
What rules challenges (I hope very few) did you encounter?
What questionsyou might have?

Thanks

Hello,

I played scenario one twice. Very enjoyable. Sometimes quite disapointing when your vessel is in range of the enemy but has to continue moving to its full allowance and is then no more in range .
I have a question for tacking. It is a movement in irons and need a skill check to be able to move ?
I have not yet used characters rules.
A skill check is mandatory to reload ? Is there a reload for each broadside or you also need to reload to fire from the broadside that has not fired yet ?

All in all a very good rule for me.

Merci Loisyann.
It is very frustrating when you get to a 'great shot' but the ship keeps moving I agree!
Yes Tacking is a MOVE IN IRONS and needs a skill check pass.
Reload is a mandatory skill check. One releoad cover EITHER/BOTH broadsides.

I am just researching a fantastic history of the French privateer Captain Croisic. I will release a scenario pack for his exploits including his victory at Bear Bay in the Arctic at Spitzbergen where his 26 gun ship + 1 other French frigate battled and captured 17 Dutch whalers!
Yes 17 v 2 and the French captain won!

You could always fire as your guns come to - but there are penalties for doing that.

Of course Dave, that rule is not in Essentials but part of the main text.

I noticed that the word b-a-r-e has been taken out of my answer.
