BRGADES in RtoE at 1:20

Barry,

Have read the chapter on scales with interest and want to ask about the combining of weak battalions into larger units. Not sure what to do with multi-battalion regiments eg the French at Quatre Bras:

What would you do for the 1st brigade of the 5th Division which was made up of four battalons of the 2nd Light (578; 569; 577; 570 men) and he 1st and 2nd battalions of the 61st Line (423; 407).

This would give six units of roughly 29; 28; 28; 28; 21; and 20.
Presumably these last two are two weak to be represented on the table as stand alone battalions.

Jonathan,

can't remember if the extract I uploaded had the 'combined battalions' rule. Anything up to 24 can be combined with anything else up to 24 to form a 'Regiment'. They have to understrength bns from the same regiment to do this. Other ad hoc combinations are available but cost more MPs to accomplish this on the battlefield ie two understrength bns from different regts of the same brigade. They can form temporary 'colonne d'attaque'. I think this is all in the CREATING YOUR ARMY chapter... hmm... did I upload that?
