I enjoyed painting up this unit, but then I enjoy painting all of my stuff.

Ok, ok, last one. The picture shows the blue as being too light in color. It really is a few shades darker in person.

I've got pics of the 2nd Companie, Gendarmes & Chevaux_legers, and the Cuirassiers du Roi. I've got some regular line cav as well but no pics of them yet.

Beautiful flags and lovely units,i wanted to try the homemade flag method rather than buy them. I've spent some time on them.......... and now realise i should have bought them!

Nice 18cg. The Cologne guys look good. It looks like you've given them 4 flags? I went to check the flag dude's flag listing and don't see any for Cologne there. Did he do a custom for you? I have the Robert Hall volume on Cologne and he shows a Leibfahne for them as well as a couple of other company flags. I'm intrigued now about what the Flag Dude can do.

The Flag Dude can do anything you ask him to which is what I did. Yes I love lots of flags on my units when possible. I read that the French in this period could still have 3 to 4 flags per battalion SOOOOO.... You can see the results! If you want the Cologne flags then just ask Rick for them as he's got them on his computer. He may not have added them to his list of available WSS flags.

Just remember that I'm doing my flags on his 'cloth' paper and they are oversized - usually around 42mm to 45mm along the pole. So he'll charge you for a 40mm flag on cloth. Not cheap but I really like the effect and if you decide to go with that set up tell him to leave his white off! His white gives you the shading colors of white which for some of these flags I didn't want as I prefer them to pop a little more with color. It's all in the asking. Just ask Rick if he can do it or ask him how you can achieve a particular result. He's really good about making recommendations and if you don't like the result he'll either make you an new flag or refund your money. Hard to beat that kind of service these days.

I am quite pleased with how my Brigadier Vignettes turned out. Three more regiments to go and the infantry will be done. That's of course with the exception of Dismounted Dragoons and Grenadiers. All figures are from Front Rank's new range.

If you go back to page one of this thread that I set up many moons ago to detail my foray into BtLB, you will see the battalions that I have already done. They are not quite up to your standard but, I get a lot of pleasure from painting them and the old "DIP" makes them look quite good for an effort by a sexygenarian.
