Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde

Post by Redmist1122 » Sat Nov 05, 2011 5:37 pm

Ok, I got my box of WF Cavalry. As posted in another thread, the set come with various heads for the riders, namely, Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde.

For BLB, what sized should I make this unit? One squadron or Two?

Thank you!

The Maison du Roi's horse grenadiers had an average field strength of 240/250 men. At a 1:40 figure scale, they would be a six-figure squadron for BLB2.
One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know.

The Grenadiers were not part of the Gendarmerie. The Gendarmes were a separate unit from the Maison du Roi, ( although there were Gendarmes de Maison du Roi as well). The Gendarmerie was often brigades with the Maison, but was separate in Italy in the early campaigns and at Blenheim. The Grenadiers were part of the Maison du Roi.

How about a decent review of the WF figures please, are they better than the frog eyed infantry?

Ian,

Already done, at least to some degree, here:

By a very good painter and modeler. If you follow the links to Steve's blog, he has actually done two posts on these figures and one on the Infantry (which his painting is quite nice on).
