Dear Friends,
I start here a new tread with the above theme, the War of the Holy Roman Empire against the French Kingdom. Any Help that can be offered will be thankfully received.
For me that will be the FIRST time in my w-h-o-l-e wagamers life that I do units from Austria
The focus of this thread will be in the first part on the Reichsarmee under the Command of "Türkenlouis", nickname for Markgraf Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden-Baden.
Many of his soldiers fought alongside the Armies of the Maritime Powers like England, Denmark and the Dutch against the French invaders and Bavaria.
It is also a 'First Time' for me that I do Troops for the WSS so the second part will focus on Prinz Eugen von Savoyen, Fieldmarshall of Austria and, I believe, the only military Genius Austria ever had in its Ranks.
The part of the Reichsarmee I intend to do is as follows:
Forces under Graf Castell
lst Line: Feldmarschall-Lieutenant Prinz von Hannover
Wing: Generalwachtmeister Graf Thürheim
Styrum Dragoon Regiment (5) *
Hohenzollern Cuirassier Regiment (5)
Leibregiment (Saxon)(2)
Kurprinz (Saxon) Cavalry Regiment (2)
Jordan (Saxon) Cavalry Regiment (2)
Eichstädt (Saxon) Cavalry Regiment (2)
Infantry Right Wing: Feldmarschall-Lieutenant Schulenburg
Generalwachtmeister von Wostrumirsky
Königin (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Kurprinz (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Wackerbarth (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Wostrumirsky (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Thielau (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Sacken (Saxon) Infantry Regiment (l)
Infantry Middle Right: Feldmarschal-lieutenant Graf Erffa
Baden (Swabian) Infantry Regiment (2)
Erffa (Franconian) Infantry Regiment (2)
Infantry Middle Left: Feldmarschall-Lieutenant Durlach
Generalwachtmeister Horn
Schnebelin (Franconian) Infantry Regiment (2)
Durlach (Franconian) Infantry Regiment (2)
Infantry Left Wing:Feldmarschal-lieutenant von Anhalt
Generalwachtmeister von Natzmer
Kaunitz (Prussian) Infantry Regiment (2) *
Prinz Anhalt (Prussian) Infantry Regiment (2) *
Prinz Philipp (Prussian) Infantry Regiment (2) *
Wing: Generalwachtmeister Hohenzollern
Bayreuth Cavalry Regiment (5) *
Prinz Philipp (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment (3) *
Wartensleben (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment (3) *
Crassau (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment (2) *
Leibregiment (Prussian)(3) *
The obvious reason for choosing this force is the existance of Saxon Troops in their ranks which are already finished. They were part of the force Schulenburg lead to Austria for the fighting along the Rhine against Bavaria and France. After Schuster&Francke those units have been:
Kürassier Regiments (575 men each):
Leibregiment
Kurprinz
Jordan
Eichstaedt
Infantry Regiments (approx. 475 men each):
Königin
Kurprinz
Beichlingen
Thielau
Sacken
Wustromirsky
Plötz
2300 Horse and 3350 Foot(very weak) therefore formed into one Battalion each.
The units in the listed above marked with an *) have taken part in the Battle of Hochstaedt 1704.
The term "Prussian" is not quite correct as their ruler was the Prince Elector of Brandenburg and Prussia was only a part of his domain.
And here will be my next 'first time' as I never did any "Prussian" troops in my life as a wargamer
Now the studies will beginn about Uniforms, flags and Miniatures to be used - I have Ebor and WFM in mind. Front Rank may be an option but can't tell right now
.
Thanks for following.
All comments are welcome
For the Empire!
