The demise of the pike in the British army

Post by j1mwallace » Thu Jul 24, 2014 4:35 pm

Just read a very interesting article in the latest arquebusier . It would appear from recent detailed research that the pike was not withdrawn until 1707and was in use for standard "line" battalions right up til then, albeit in decrease ratio of pike to shot. Excellent though provoking article.

Careful James!!!!!!
This is the VERY subject which prompted a handbag fight a couple of years ago and resulted in someone taking their bat and ball home and telling their Mammy on the bad boys at Fighting Talk!!! Watch out for DOB.. he's the biggest bully
Always throwing his opinions around and intimidating the small boys in the playground. It is well known behaviour for toughs from the Edinburgh suburbs
