Battle of the Boyne Pics from Wappenshaw

Post by Atheling » Thu May 01, 2008 4:29 pm

Hi,

Slightly later than promised but here they are. Boy, it must have been very dark in that room. I warn you now some of the pics have been run up to the hilt in photoshop.

Thanx for these Darrell :D
This game was put together at a couple of days notice and I really only began proper work on it AFTER the show. I was putting a little spurt on to get it ready for Partizan.
Now I have :
built 3 brand new terrain boards to represent the high ground on which the Williamite guns stood. Painted 2.5 battalions of Gard te Voet, Painted King William and King James figures, reworked the terrain on the west ank of the river. In addition David Imrie has painted the Huguenot contingent from scratch.

It all looks mighty fine now! I am looking forward to getting the game on the table at Newark :D

There will be new pictures in the gallery just as soon as I get a little free time to upload. I have literally dozens of new shots but have had little time recently to put anything into the site. Of course Karl XII you can always buy the rules here

Ed, I could be flip and say " The Billy Boys won!" but on the day, 4 battalions were rammed back into the Boyne by the Jaocbite Horse and those bold dutch grenadiers went down fighting in front of Oldbridge. When we pulled stumps the Tim's had won!!!

Rematch at Partizan!

Barry,

No probs about the pics. I loved seeing the game and taking the pics was a pleasure. A bit more light in the hall would have been nice though  . You can tell when a game has been put together with inspired passion.

I can't believe that you have managed to improve on the scenery. I thought the stuff you had was already fantastic 8) . I may be making my way down to Partizan so I look forward to seeing the game in it's new scenic guise.

BTW, are you putting anything on next week at Carronade?

Cheers,

Darrell.

Yup Darrell,

the lads of the LoGW and I are doing a 16 feet Ligny with all custom made terrain by Adrian Howe and about 2000 figures. I think you'll spot it

Blimey! Just meditating on how long it would take me to paint 2000 mini's.

Ohmmmmmmmmmm........

Look forward to bumping into the game, probably literally by the sounds of things :) .

Cheers,

Darrell.

@ Barry
Of course Karl XII you can always buy the rules here
In theory yes but:
1.) I have a great distrust towards PayPal, thus I don´t know how to transfer my money to you.
2.) I allways liked rules where you can remove casaulties by individuel models rather than by complete stands, even if I like how command and controlle is handled in your rules (I have the 4th Edition) and thus would like to have them once.
3.) With no enemy to beat, there is no ruleset to need.

Battle of the Boyne

Post by Churchill » Sun May 11, 2008 11:54 pm

Hi Darrall,

Hope you don't mind me using your thread to post my first attempt at painting figures for this period. They are Reiver Casting figures which needed a bit of work doing to them before painting could start......some thick flash on the bases of the figures which needed filing down and the hands which hold the Pikes and Flags had to be drilled through, but I'm more than happy with the end product.
Kirkes Lambs at the Boyne.......Elite or Drilled?

Now onto my Front Rank Marlburian British...................
