Battle of Ekeren

We have been discussing the Battle of Ekeren (1703) as a possible future club project. Does anybody have useful sources we could look into ?

Pierre Foure presents a brief account of the battle with a list of Franco-Spanish units present in his book on French colors and standards of the period (Trophees de la Guerre de Succession D'Espagne). Much of it comes from Het Staatche Legere, a work in Dutch but which features a brief English synopsis of the battle. Merode-Westerloo describes the actions concerning his brigade in his memoirs edited by Chandler; however, I have been advised by those with far greater knowledge of the period to take him with a grain of salt. Reading for myself, I would tend to agree. I will revert with more sources; however, I don't have anything which gives brigade structure, etc. Also, Pelet gives a description of the battle and features some original documents. More later.

Yes, I had seen it a while ago. Good info there, especially because it has much of the Dutch OOB.

I found a great source of info browsing the maps in the archives of Marburg. And if they are correct, our clubhouse is in the middle of the main fight between Ekeren and Hoevenen.

Time for an update.

I have pretty much puzzled the Dutch OOB together. And got a lot of the French units as well.

Still unsure about the uniforms for German units in Dutch service.
