Dave,

I agree with you but Routh went through the records with a fine tooth comb and so the options are two large troops each with a named commander or three normal ones with the name of one inexplicably missing. Suppose it's a case of user's choice.

If I find out anything else will post it, but am knee deep in my own project for my favourite publishing house and I need to have it wrapped up by November...

Wienand and Dave,
Low and behold I totally forgot about another source for information about units in Tangiers, "The Armies & Uniforms of the Monmouth Rebellion", from Partizan Press. I was looking at units for a friend who wanted to the Monmouth Rebellion for Donnybrook. As I was reading over the kings units, there was mention of some units returning from Tangiers in 1684; The Queens Dowagers (later Kirke's) and most interesting The Queen Consort's (later Trelawney's) Regiments.
I may have a copy of the flag, but will look around on the web.
