How big a table - Part II - Malplaquet

Another battle I am looking at is Malplaquet. I'm thinking that dept is more of an issue then length. Could you do the center with a 4 x 8 table?

Is it true the Garde Francaises waivered

On the other hand the Wild Gesse performed

but it was the ruining of the Dutch Blue Guards

So many options

I played in a cut down version of Malplaquet on a 10 x 5 about 14 years ago. Great game which I still remember very clearly! As long as you plan the scenario to suit yor table size and collection you'll get away with anything you want Ed!

Wise words indeed there

When I organised our Blenhiem re fight the scale terrrain we made was
24' x 8' (12 no 4'x4' poly boards).

I worked out while casting around for another project that Malplaquet on the same basis required a huge area. Something mad like 20' x 30' (sic)

Suffice to say enjoy what you can

One option is to pick a particular SECTION of the battle. For example, in the ACW, I staged a "Little Round Top" scenario instead of trying to duplicate the whole of Gettysburg.

Even better use 6mm and you can do the whole battle

I'm working my way through some Baccus (lovely little figures and you can even tell what they're supposed to be). The units are based as a single battaion on 60x30 mm.
