Huh, I just finished painting up the Cameronians as a test unit of Front Rank figs to close to that standard, gonna sell them soon on ebay because I want to redo them in marching pose and I want that preacher mini with them (because of the strong religious flavor of the regt) and some of those. This was the first unit of 25s I ever painted (well, technically the second) I'll post the pics tommorow or something, do you guys honestly get that much money for 25mm figs? Wow.

The 26th Regiment of Foot "The Cameronians" or Fergussons Regiment which was part of the third line under Brigadier General Fergusson's Brigade at Blenhiem. These were part of the 20 Battalion Column which assualted the village of Blenhiem.
It will be interesting to see your pic's of these and may I ask where you got the uniform info from? They should be in a Red Coat, White Cuffs and Vest, White Breeches, Copper Buttons, Yellow Lace around Tricorn Hat and finally White Stockings.
I'm not sure of the Colonel's Colour at the moment, but being a Scottish Regiment they'd of carried the Cross of St.Andrew (White Saltire on a Blue Field with possibly a Thistle in the centre, but this is speculative).
I look forward to seeing them and good luck on e-bay.If there pro-painted they should fetch a good price

Best Wishes..........Ray.

These are fantastic, really well painted and I like the flag's.
Like myself I've added some figures in the front rank kneeling and firing, this add's to the feeling of firing by platoon.
You got the Crimson Coat right....I said "Red" in my last post, but after checking my info. for this regiment it turn's out they wore Crimson.
Did you have any problem's fitting the FRONT RANK figures to the 45mm x 50mm base?
Well done on your work, I only wish I could paint this good

Best Wishes.....Ray.

I would rather the coats bea brighter red the next time I paint it anyways and I'm thinking, for the hell of it, of giving the whole unit tartansashes over their shoulders like the guys in the osprey book. I know, not historical, but might look pretty cool. At the very least the officers will have them.

These are 50x50 bases by the way.

Ray,

On Spain I don't think that you will find much out there on Spain in any easy to find place. It is covered a bit in some of Chandler's books and others but doesn't amount to much.

There are a number of articles around on the battle of Almansa (1707) of varying quality. The most recent was in the Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy issue 33, May 2006. I am working on some more articles covering the 1710 campaign in Spain and 4 battles/actions during that campaign. hopefully these will be available sometime next year.

Hope this helps.
