Q: De Lassay and De Montfort Regiments at Blenheim

Post by Mark Wightman » Thu Nov 20, 2008 5:31 pm

Can anybody help me with uniform information regarding the above two regiments which fought at Blenheim?

I'd assumed that De Lassay was a French regiment, but I've not been able to find it in any of the books I have. Perhaps it could be a German regiment in French service as it was commanded by the Marquis de Greder.

I think De Montfort would have been Spanish or perhaps Walloon, but again I cannot find it in any of the books I have. Nor is it mentioned in Mark Allens WI series.

Cheers

Mark,

According to Robert Hall, the uniforms for both regiments is unknown. Sorry.

Regards,

Of course, the moment you paint them, a previously unknown source will turn up to prove you used the wrong colours and the entire unit will be useless. :P

Thanks, Iain. I've been looking for a copy of Roberts book for some time. The Pike & Shot society were OOS last time I looked. They'll be at the Warfare show in Reading this weekend, so I'll check with them in person. Perhaps it will be reprinted.

Thanks for your patience and apologies for all the questions.

Thanks, Iain.

I didn't know about the Baccus CD's. I'd prefer to get an actual copy of the book, but it's great news that the P&SS have it back in stock.

If it has just come back into stock then I'll keep my fingers crossed that they have copies with them.

As Dan has already said the uniforms of Lassay and Montfort are not known and are not in the Hall/Baccus CD.

The Hall/Baccus CD does have the flags though and is easily the best you can get for this period.

The P&SS chaps had both the Infantry and Cavalry books available in both hard and softback. So I am a very happy, if somewhat destitute, bunny :D
