WSS 28mm Plastics

Post by Cameronian » Thu Jan 20, 2011 1:32 pm

Hello Gents.
Long time follower and lurker, first post.

Just got a box of the Wargames Factory figures. From what I see on the sprues, I've come up with 2 options of how to deploy the 36 figures available:

1.Image

2. Image

Option 1 has one battalion of 12 marching musketeers, a command base of two standard bearers, an officer, drummer and NCO with an additional base of three pikemen. Also has a second battalion of 12 marching musketeers and a command base of two standard bearers, an officer and drummer.

Option 2 dispenses with the pikemen so has one battalion of 12 marching musketeers, a command base of two standard bearers, an officer, drummer and NCO and another which could be pike, musket, etc. Also has a second battalion of 12 marching musketeers a command base of two standard bearers, an officer, drummer and NCO and another which could be pike, musket, etc.

I can't make up my mind one way or the other. Any preferences from the body o' the kirk? :)

Aye Laddie,

If you're Presbyterian go with option one and if you're Episcopalian then it's option two.

Seriously though, if it's WSS I would go with option #2.

Orabest,

the one thing they would not take is mass .This is the regiment that had seperate battalions in the first world war. The prestbyterian ethic was with them right up to the end when they disbanded after a conventicle

Gentlemen, many thanks for your interesting and informative replies.

Jim; as a 'Christ and no quarter' presbyterian from Hamilton in Lanarkshire I agree Option 1. Sadly these figures are more or less useless for the earlier stuff.

Ray; very persuasive re the WSS.

What to do? What to do? I did a British Marlburian army yonks ago (entirely of 25mm Minifigs). At present splitting it up to get the Government forces at Sherrifmuir out of it as well. Being Minifigs, nothing else really fits with them. So...

... some kind of compromise with scant regard for historical accuracy and set about pre-1700. Or start again with WSS?

Either way, I doubt you'll ever see my efforts on here - way below the superb modelling seen on the forum. :D

Many Thanks,

George

In regard to Mass, I'm afraid that Bibio is correct. The last thing Presbyterians (or any other non-conformists or low churchmen) would take was Mass. Communion yes, but Mass would have been seen as Popish and therefore, unlike Henri IV ("Paris is worth a Mass"), beyond the pale.

Regards

I am well aware of the history of the cameronians ,I had enough family that served with them, the reference to ww1 was to illustrarate how firmly they kept to their original ethics.
As for Spanish Inquisition where/
