WSS British Headdress questions

Hello All
have been reading wss armies & uniforms vol 1 by cs grant and in the paragraph about headdress its got me confused.
Is he on about the Grenadier company's in each regiment or regiment head dress full stop?
Im using front rank figures for these but havent placed my order yet.
1 what headdress would the 1st foot guards worn
2 what head dress would 18th of foot also worn

Andrew,

Both of these regiments would have had cocked hats (tricornes) for the bulk of the regiment - known as "the hat companies" - with only the grenadier company having the mitre cap (or whatever specific headgear that unit's grenadiers wore).
